1) Remembering Sudirman

Last February 22, 2007 marked fifteen years of the passing of Sudirman Haji Arshad, the pahang-born Asia's No. 1 singer during his heyday.

To mark the occasion, his family held a tahlil prayer session at his sister's house in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur and it was attended by journalists, celebrity friends and relatives.

RTM also announced that in conjunction with the 61st anniversary of RTM (Radio and Television Malaysia) a concert in appreciation of Sudirman's contribution called Konsert Suara Hati is planned to be held on 1st April, 2007 at Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam, Selangor.

Datuk Siti Nurhaliza will be among the leading Malaysian singers at the concert who will sing the songs popularised by the late Sudirman.

To promote, and as a prelude to, the concert, RTM has produced a slot on RTM 1 TV channel, to show repeats of four of Sudirman's tv shows. The program, to be held every Wednesday at 8.45 pm, will be shown on the following dates: -

  1. Puspawarna ( 7 March 2007)
  2. Mekar Sejambak Sudirman and Atai (14 March 2007)
  3. Istimewa Bersama Sudirman 1987 (21 March 2007)
  4. Istimewa Bersama Sudirman 1988 (28 March 2007)

So, to all fans and admirers of the late Sudirman Haji Arshad, don't forget to relive the past and watch the tv programs and the concert.

It is perhaps a small contribution by RTM to honor a Malaysian entertainer extraordinaire, a legendary singing sensation, and of course, a proud produce of Temerloh , Pahang.

Perhaps something more permanent to honor him should be thought out to do justice for his many contributions to the arts and entertainment scene of the country.

2) Jom Heboh 2007

Talking about concerts, Malaysian TV3 has picked Kuantan as the first stop for this year's Jom Heboh events. It will be held on 10th - 11th of March 2007 (Saturday and Sunday) at the MPK 2 field.

The theme for Kuantan's Jom Heboh program is "Healthy Living", and so we can expect that most of the booths and programs at the fair will be geared towards this theme.

To all Kuantan folks, then, enjoy the "Jom Heboh" concert and watch your favorite celebrities there.

3) Another AJL Award to Datuk Siti Nurhaliza

Another proud daughter of Pahang, the Temerloh-born and a long-time resident of Kuala Lipis, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, added another feather to her awards cap and to her record collection of numerous wins and trophies.

This time it was the Anugerah Juara Lagu ("AJL") 2007 award from the Malay language newspaper, Berita Harian.

She topped in the Most Popular Female Singer category.

With this 2007 award she has made seven consecutive wins in the AJL Awards.

So, congratulations to Datuk Siti Nurhaliza from all of us and hope that she continues to make Pahangites proud.

3) Taman Negara Eco-Challenge

The Taman Negara Eco-Challenge will be held on 21 - 25 March 2007 as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 events in the state of Pahang. It is an extreme physical race up and down the 2,187 meters high Gunung Tahan mountain. There will be attractive prizes for winners but every participant will be recognised for their efforts.

If you're interested, call Taman Negara at 09-517 1111 or fax at 09-514 6900.

4) Well, I had some unexpected problems in internet connectivity in February 2007. I could only add just one web-page (oh, my) as follows:-

#1) Chinese New Year in Pahang

The year of the Pig or Boar promise good tidings for all. Traditions are strictly observed by the Chinese when they celebrate the Chinese New Year, and so children will make sure they're home for the Re-Union Dinner on the eve of the new year.

Mandarin oranges, kum quat trees, cherry and plum blossoms, yee sang, red lanterns and kuih bakul, dragon and lion dances and red ang pows, ensure merriment and joys for all.

Well, until next time, from me...

Terima kasih (thank you) and ... Selamat Datang (Welcome) to Pahang.
