The carnival offerred a total of RM37,100 as cash prizes. The prizes to the winners of the two categories of competition, namely the beach (coastal) fishing and deep fishing, were presented on the 16th July 2006 by YB Datuk Ishak Muhamad, Pahang state Exco member. More than 400 fishing enthusiasts took part in the Deep Sea Fishing category. A total of 86.92 kilograms of fishes were hauled in the beach competition. The next (4th) round of the Malaysian GP Joran 2006, organised by Berita Harian, will be held at the LKIM Pengkalan Petah jetty, for fishing in the seas off Bachok and Pasir Puteh in Kelantan on the 18th and 19th August 2006.
Well, it has started. Today, the 4th August 2006 is the checking in for those registered, and participants will go out to sea on the 5th and come back on Sunday, 6th August 2006. This year, the third time the popular RPBIC 2006 is being held, will see 120 participants from 13 countries with 40 boats out to sea to catch the indefatigable sailfishes or billfishes in the sea off Rompin, Pahang. It's the annual season for the billfishes to travel through the area. In conjunction with the RPBIC a beach category for coastal fishing will also be held on 6th August, 2006. 3) Tragic News The whole of Pahang was saddened by the tragic demise on 24th July 2006 of Tengku Datuk Puteri Kamariah Sultan Abu Bakar, 64, the half-sister of HRH Sultan Ahmad Shah. She was buried at the royal cemetery in Pekan the next day. May the blessings of Allah be upon her and may her soul rest in peace. 4) The Long Awaited Wedding News No doubt, Kuala Lipis is bound for excitement and splendor in the months of August and September 2006. When you come to Kuala Lipis this month (August), expect changes and new coat of colors for a few of its buildings. Why? It's preparation for the wedding of its famous daughter, Siti Nurhaliza, the Malaysian diva. This most popular Malaysian singing songstress for more than a decade has decided to get herself wedded - with Datuk Mohd Khalid Jiwa, a prominent businessman. She made the announcement to the press (and it was telecasted live on tv by RTM) on the 17th July 2006, at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The formal engagement and akad nikah (wedding solemnisation) will both be held on the 21st of August 2006 at the Federal Territory Mosque, Kuala Lumpur. The wedding ceremony at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) will be held on the 28th August 2006. Dignitaries including royalties will be present. And a special wedding ceremony will also be held on the 3rd September 2006 in Kuala Lipis. Ah, that's why I'm sure Kuala Lipis town will have a new coat of paint for some of its buildings. Well, it should be so, right, because it's perhaps a once in a lifetime event for the town folks - to ensure a glamorous wedding fit for a Malaysian songstress extraordinaire. So let's all wish the wedded couple with blessings of a happy family life. And by the way, if you're going to Kuala Lipis, don't forget to try Nasi Kebuli , the savory traditional rice dish of the town.
