Cherating Beach at Low Tide
My favourite beach in Pahang is Cherating Beach. It is long and beautiful. Take a look at the photo that I took recently when I was there. It was morning and the tide was low.
I stay in Taman Cenderawasih, Kuantan, and whenever my friends and I want to swim in the sea or play on the beach, most of the time we will choose Cherating beach.
Although the beaches of Teluk Chempedak (TC) and Tanjung Sepat are closer to us, we still like to go to Cherating although it is about 30 km away and takes about half an hour’s drive.
This is because the beach is lovely, and the sea waters are, from our experience, much calmer than TC or Sepat. My friends and I usually go in the morning and return home in the evening.
Besides swimming and playing or just lazing on the beach, the area has many eating places where we can get good local food and dishes when hungry. Fresh coconut drinks are always available.
There is also a cultural complex nearby where we sometimes go and watch people playing with wau (kites) and traditional Malay games like congkak and gasing (top spinning). Being local we also like to watch foreign tourists try their hands at batik painting there.
Besides the beach, the Cherating village area is also lively at night, with people eating and dining at the many restaurants.
And when the sky is starry with a full moon, and with the glow of the lights at the village and restaurants, it is also a lovely sight from the beach, especially for the romantics!
That's why it is my favorite beach in Pahang.
