When I first came to Kuantan (to work) in 1978, Teluk Chempedak was the first beach in Pahang I visited.
And I was astounded for a moment by the beauty of the waters and beach. Like you, I also enjoyed swimming and playing on the beaches with my friends then.
The beach is great because it is a bay (teluk); thus the sea is comparatively calm.
But do know that there are periods, like the end of the year during the monsoon season, when it is not advisable to swim in the sea because of dangerous under-currents.
The raised red flag on the pole (beside the life-guards watch-tower on the beach) will warn of this danger. So do be careful.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed Teluk Chempedak beach in Pahang.
